Prepare your chatbot and copy its code
Choose an embedded conversation within a page or a floating launcher available as visitors explore. Each layout uses a different installation method.
Enter your website address in the AI Chatbot editor to start building your chatbot. Check the information gathered from your site, add any missing details, and test the answers.
Select your preferred layout:
- Embedded chat window: displays the conversation inside a page section.
- Floating chatbot: opens from a launcher positioned over the website.
Customize the appearance, save your chatbot, and copy the complete installation snippet.
Add an embedded chat to your page
Open your website with Edit Site, then select the page where you want the conversation.
In Wix Editor
Add an HTML element. Click Add Elements (+) → Embed Code → Embed HTML.
Enter your snippet. Click Enter Code and paste the complete embedded chat installation code.
Apply it. Click Update or Apply, depending on the interface.
In Wix Studio
Insert an embed. Open Add Elements (+) → Embed & Social → Embed Code.
Paste the snippet. Choose Enter Code and add your complete embedded chat code.
Confirm the change. Click Update or Apply.
Set the size and publish
Move the element into position and resize its frame to fit the conversation. Then check the mobile layout and adjust the dimensions where needed.
Wix displays embedded HTML inside an iframe, so the surrounding frame must provide enough space for the chatbot. Make sure visitors can reach the message input without encountering an extra scrollbar around the entire embed.
Click Publish, then inspect the live page.
Add a floating chat across your website
Floating chat uses dashboard settings rather than an HTML element on the page. The procedure is the same for Wix Editor and Wix Studio.
Open Custom Code. In your site dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code, under Development & Integrations.
Create an entry. Click + Add Custom Code.
Insert the chatbot. Paste the complete floating chat snippet and name the entry “AI Chatbot.”
Choose the pages. Select All pages.
Set the location. Under Place Code in, choose Body – start.
Activate it. Click Apply and confirm that the entry is enabled.
Check the launcher on your published website.
Add a floating chat to selected pages
In the same Custom Code settings, select Choose specific pages instead of All pages. Pick the pages where visitors should have access to the chatbot, keep Body – start as the placement, and apply your changes.
For example, you might make chat available on service and contact pages.
Use one Custom Code entry for the same chatbot. Overlapping installations can create duplicate launchers.
Test your chatbot on the live website
Visit your published site in a private browser window. Open the conversation, ask a question, and follow any links or actions offered in the response.
Check that:
- The chatbot appears on the pages you selected.
- Visitors can send messages and read complete answers.
- The embedded window fits its frame on desktop and mobile.
- The floating launcher leaves menus, forms, and cookie controls accessible.
- Contact buttons, booking options, and other configured actions work correctly.
- The launcher behaves correctly when navigating between pages.
Try questions with a clear business purpose like “Do you offer this service in my area?” or “What’s included in the price?”
Review any incomplete responses and improve the information available to your chatbot.
