Before you start

Before you start you need one thing: the address of your website.

No card, no account setup questionnaire, nothing to install first.

Step by step

  1. Paste your website address. The agent reads your pages and writes its own role, tone and greeting, and collects your content as its knowledge.

  2. Look over what it produced. The role, the tone, the answer length, the welcome message and the suggested questions are all editable. Change what you disagree with.

  3. Add anything the site does not say. Files, a few question and answer pairs, and any rules about what it should always or never do.

  4. Pick a theme and adjust the colours so it matches your site.

  5. Copy the code and paste it into your site. Platform-specific instructions are linked below.

Check it works

Open your site in a private window. The launcher should be in the corner you chose.

Ask it three things you know the answer to, and one thing you know is not on your site. The first three should be right. The last one should get an honest "I do not know" — and appear in your knowledge gaps a moment later.

If that all happens, it is working.

If something went wrong

The usual problems:

  • Nothing appears — check the code went into a site-wide area rather than one page, and that display rules are not hiding it
  • It answers vaguely — your site probably says less than you think. Add a few Q&A pairs for the things people actually ask
  • It gets a price wrong — find where that price appears on your site and correct it there, then retrain the page
  • It looks wrong on mobile — check the launcher position and offset separately for mobile
