Create your chatbot and copy its code
This guide covers GoDaddy Websites + Marketing. If you use WordPress hosted by GoDaddy, follow the WordPress installation guide instead.
Open the AI Chatbot editor and enter your website address. Review the generated knowledge, add missing information, and test the chatbot’s answers.
Customize its appearance and choose a layout:
- Embedded chat window — appears within your page content.
- Floating chatbot — opens from a launcher on pages where you install it.
Save your chatbot and copy its installation code from the dashboard. You’ll use the widget ID from that code in the GoDaddy-specific snippet below.
Prepare your GoDaddy installation code
Use this adapted snippet for GoDaddy:
<script src="https://custom-scripts.elfsightcdn.com/public-scripts/hostinger-and-go-daddy/install-widget.js" data-banner></script>
<div class="elfsight-app-WIDGET_ID"></div>
Replace WIDGET_ID with the value following elfsight-app- in your original installation code. Keep the prefix unchanged.
Use this adapted code in the following steps instead of the standard dashboard snippet.
Add AI Chatbot as a floating chat
Use floating chat when visitors should be able to ask questions without leaving the content they’re reading.
Add floating chat to a selected page
Open your website. In GoDaddy, find Websites + Marketing, select your site, and click Edit Website.
Add a section. Choose a page and click Add Section.
Select HTML. Open Files & Web → HTML → Embed custom code on the page.
Insert your code. Paste your adapted snippet into Custom Code and click Done.
Publish. Publish the website and open View Site to test it.
Add floating chat across your website
Repeat the installation on every page where you want the launcher. This method does not provide one site-wide code placement.
GoDaddy’s editor and preview show a placeholder for this installation. Check the chatbot on the published website.
Add AI Chatbot as an embedded chat
Select the embedded layout in AI Chatbot and save it.
Open your target page in GoDaddy’s website editor.
Add an HTML section at the intended chat position.
Paste the adapted snippet with your embedded chatbot’s widget ID.
Click Done, publish, and inspect the live page.
Check the embedded chat’s position
Place the chatbot where visitors are likely to need it. A contact page can introduce it with a short invitation to ask a question, while a service page can place it after the service description.
Make sure the full chat interface is visible and has enough room for messages and controls. Check the published page on a phone as well as a desktop.
If you’re changing an existing installation, update or remove its previous code section before adding another copy.
Test your AI Chatbot installation
Open your live website in a new or private browser window and check that:
- The chatbot loads and visitors can send and receive messages.
- The floating launcher appears on each intended page.
- The embedded chat interface is fully visible.
- The launcher doesn’t overlap navigation, cookie notices, or other controls.
- Links, contact buttons, and other configured actions work correctly.
- The layout is usable on desktop and mobile.
Try asking a few questions your visitors might be interested in. If an answer is incomplete, add the missing details to the chatbot’s knowledge.
